Fish Market at the Old West End Dock
Limited Edition Giclee Print By Jill Tattersall 12" x 8"
The old dock at West End alternated with the one at Road Town for the weekly shipping of goods to St Thomas: cattle, goats, charcoal, and root crops, whichever was most profitable at the time. This dock seemed to me a likely place for the fishermen of Soper's Hole to sell their catch, and if they did then the scene may have looked like this, with someone blowing his conchshell horn to let everybody know fish were available. The scent would certainly have attracted frigate birds.
