Crossing the beach at Nanny Cay a few weeks after Hurricanes Irma and Maria had done their worst, I was delighted to see a row of small sailing boats drawn up on the shore. They were the new replacements for the former KATS fleet which had been destroyed by the storms. As I watched, the children arrived, excitedly swarming over the boats, testing the rigging, pulling them into deeper water, raising the sails, as they prepared for an impromptu race. KATS is such a great cause and it was wonderful to see the children so happy to be back on the water, and probably feeling that this might be the beginning of things getting back to normal.
