J.E.W. Georges’ Shop

No. 196 Main Street – This site dates from the plantation period. This store is also built on the site of Richard Hetherington's 18th century Governor's mansion from the days when governors lived in their own homes.  Until the 1960’s this grocery shop was the prime source for imported products for Virgin Islanders ranging from oil lanterns to flannel nighties and coal pots.
