The new docks which replaced all those destroyed by Irma and Maria are a good deal longer than the old ones had been, and one evening I walked with my son Johnny to the end of the nearest one. I was excited by the startling new view and the dazzling reflections, and Johnny took photographs for me to use as references for this painting, though usually I prefer to paint out of memory spiced with some imagination.
