Almost opposite the Bougainvillea steps in Main Street stood the pretty yellow shop of Mr. Winchester, the popular cobbler who mended many pairs of shoes for us. The Abbott house next door was at one time the interesting Museum where I worked on Saturdays. In the yard behind, a stick house was built like the one I remembered on the Ridge Road when we lived at Greenbanks, and also in the yard was one of the beautiful Tortola Sloops. The white cedar shown here is the BVI's national tree, from which the sloops were built
