This painting was inspired by a conversation I had with a man collecting coconut, who told me when he was a boy on Soldiers Hill he went to school in Cane Garden Bay. The teacher rode in every day on her own horse, side saddle in her blue skirt. At that time Cane Garden Bay was inhabited by small red-legged tortoises seen here on the bottom right.
