Before Prospect Reef was built the area was a tangled mangrove swamp that housed a makeshift home constructed of old tires, odd bits of wood, and anything else that could be used. Its eccentric owner Ning, could be seen walking about the road playing an imaginary instrument, or taking it upon himself to direct what little traffic there was - unless there was a burial taking place, when he would be the first to plunge his spade into the future grave.
When the Prospect harbour was first made, the western bank was beautifully landscaped, where the restaurant now stands. I did this painting from a sketch I once made of that enchanting view, looking across the Channel to Peter Island.
